Alchemical Impressions dives into a narrative of family, value and loss. Over the last 4 decades, Alzheimer’s has ravaged those close to me. I have worked to understand its impact on the mental and physical health of those around me. As of late, these thoughts have manifested through the body of work Alchemical Impressions.
The images are made in bodies of water here in Emanuel County. The work plays with clarity, reflection, the comfort of a horizon line and the shimmering metallic surface that relies on the tension (and undercurrent) of the water carrying it.
In this series, for me, the priceless goal of the alchemist is not silver or gold, but memories of a life shared with loved ones.
This body of work is built upon the series A Periodic Table of Southern Elements.
